A kingpin is a bolt that goes through the center of the sk8 shaft and holds it. It can be loosened or stiffened, thereby loosening or tightening the shaft. Experienced sk8ers say that most beginners loosen their kingpins, and as they progress, they tighten it tighter. Although the name "kingpin" is used for many things, it always has the same meaning - it is that piece that holds everything together, the main element. There is one kingpin in the package.
