When it comes to wetsuits lately, Mystic has stood out from the crowd of standard surf brands as a high-quality and innovative choice. As the colder days knocked on our door—suddenly and quickly, as is the custom in Dalmatia—we received the flagship of the Mystic lineup for testing: the Voltt 5/4/3mm front-zip wetsuit.
The new Voltt line by Mystic is their warmest yet, packed with the latest innovations in wetsuit technology. This 5/4/3 model is certainly warm enough to allow for comfortable kitesurfing throughout the winter. You no longer need to feel the chill this winter, even during the "Bura" winds, which can be exceptionally cold in Dalmatia!
The Mystic Voltt utilizes M-Flex 2.0 neoprene in thicknesses of 5, 4, and 3 mm. In areas where you need maximum freedom of movement, like the arms, the Voltt is thinner (3mm). It is thicker (5mm) on the chest and back to create a warm and flexible suit, while the lower body features 4mm neoprene. A new Knitflex material is used on specific parts of the upper body, offering plenty of stretch; it literally looks and feels like you’re wearing a warm sweater—a bit unusual, but the sensation is great and it certainly draws attention.
The interior of the Mystic Voltt is lined with super-warm Flaremesh on the chest, back, and lower body, while the rest features a Foxfleece lining. All seams are taped with flexible waterproof tape. As a result, minimal water enters the suit, and heat loss through the seams is kept to a minimum. The 2020 Voltt uses a front-zip system, which ensures a perfect fit to your body so that very little water can enter through the zipper or the neck.

Wondering what it feels like to wear this premium suit? It’s literally like sitting in your car in the middle of winter, warmly dressed with the heater turned on. Pure bliss. Despite being a wetsuit, it is so stretchy and well-sealed that it keeps the seawater out even when submerged.
After hours of surfing, you still feel comfortable, and hypothermia becomes a thing of the past. Interestingly, as you warm up from physical activity, the interior materials trap that heat, giving you a genuine sensation of warmth regardless of external conditions. The suit comes in two variations: 5/4/3mm front-zip/back-zip, and an even warmer 6/5/4mm front-zip with an integrated hood.
While front-zip suits can be slightly harder to put on and take off due to the smaller entry opening, once you get used to it and the benefits it provides, everything else becomes irrelevant. For our conditions in Dalmatia, we believe this tested suit is more than enough for a warm and comfortable ride. You can view and order this model in our shop.
